Removing the cuff

The cuff can be easily detached from the stimulation unit so that you can clean or replace it.

More info

The innoSTEP-WL foot drop system is used for immediate disability compensation in cases of foot drop weakness and is particularly easy to care for. The cuff with which the system is attached to the leg is connected to the stimulation unit via press studs. This makes it quick and easy to remove for cleaning or replacement.

Properties of the cuff:

  • Integrated tissue electrodes for large-area stimulation of the peroneal nerve and tibial muscle
  • Supports a fluid gait pattern through targeted muscle activation
  • Particularly simple and correct installation
  • Hygienic feel thanks to regular cleaning recommended (hand wash at 30 degrees with mild, fragrance-free detergent)

Instructions for loosening the cuff:

  1. Feel the press studs under the tissue electrodes and carefully loosen them with your fingernail.
  2. Open the Velcro fastener on the outside of the cuff to release the stimulation unit.
  3. Slowly pull the stimulation unit out of the cuff.

Connecting the cuff

The cuff can be easily attached to the stimulation unit – so you can quickly put the innoSTEP-WL back into operation.

More info

The innoSTEP-WL foot drop system for immediate disability compensation in the case of foot drop weakness is particularly easy to care for: the cuff with which the foot drop system is attached to the leg is connected to the stimulation unit via press studs – you can reconnect the cuff to the stimulation unit in just a few simple steps.

  • The push buttons not only attach the stimulation unit to the cuff, but also transmit the electrical impulse to the tissue electrodes.
  • If the cuff has been removed or needs to be replaced, it can be easily attached to the stimulation unit.

To connect the cuff to the stimulation unit:

  1. Carefully insert the bow of the stimulation unit into the opening of the cuff.
  2. Make sure that the press studs on the inside of the sheet point towards the electrodes.
  3. Push the arch completely into the cuff so that the stimulation unit matches the yellow outline drawn on it.
  4. Feel the press studs underneath the tissue electrodes and close them – you should hear a clicking sound.

Applying the cuff

The innoSTEP-WL is simply attached below the knee and enables a natural, safe gait pattern.

More info

The innoSTEP-WL foot lifter system essentially consists of a stimulation unit connected to a cuff and is attached to the affected leg below the knee. The cuff with integrated tissue electrodes provides optimum stimulation with a high level of comfort thanks to the large-area stimulation of the peroneal nerve and tibial muscle.

The system is particularly simple:

  1. Before use, the fabric surfaces must be well moistened with water to ensure conductivity. To do this, use the enclosed water sprayer and distribute the liquid evenly with your fingers.
  2. Attach the innoSTEP-WL in a sitting position – the cuff is attached below the knee and aligned with the tibia.
  3. The yellow positioning mark on the upper edge of the cuff points towards the center of the kneecap.
  4. The cuff is fastened with the magnetic fastener – this can also be done with one hand.
  5. The width of the cuff is adjusted using the Velcro fastener. It should fit snugly but not restrict the leg.
  6. When you put the innoSTEP-WL away, allow it to air dry before storing it in the supplied device case.

Applying the gel electrodes

The gel electrodes are placed on the head of the fibula and on the tibial muscle.

More info

The innoSTEP-WL foot drop system can also be used with gel electrodes. Once the correct cuff for applying the gel electrodes has been connected to the stimulation unit, we show you how to position the electrodes correctly in this video.

Before sticking on the electrodes, make sure to carefully clean the skin of dirt, grease and creams and remove the protective film from the electrodes. The gel electrodes are attached to the head of the fibula and to the shin muscle to ensure optimum stimulation:

  1. To simplify the installation, detach the electrodes from the stimulation unit.
  2. Feel the head of your fibula – this is where the black electrode (negative cathode) is attached.
  3. The red electrode (positive anode) is attached to the shin muscle approx. 2 finger widths away.
  4. Now connect the electrodes to the stimulation unit. The black electrode is connected to the push button marked in black, the red electrode to the push button marked in red.
  5. Attach the cuff below the knee and make sure that the yellow positioning mark points upwards towards the center of the kneecap (patella).
  6. Close the magnetic fastener and adjust the width of the cuff using the Velcro fastener. It should fit snugly but not restrict the leg.
  7. After use, stick the electrodes back onto the protective film and store them in an airtight and cool place.

Training mode

The training mode makes it possible to strengthen the leg muscles and supplement the neuronal rewiring while sitting or lying down.

More info

The training mode supplements the daily use of the innoSTEP-WL and should be used especially if you do not use the gait mode on a daily basis. The aim is to further strengthen the leg muscles and promote neuronal reattachment.

In training mode, the peroneal nerve is stimulated at set intervals: The affected leg is best positioned loosely in a sitting position or raised:

  1. If you use the cuff with integrated tissue electrodes, these must be sufficiently moistened beforehand.
  2. Press and hold the on/off button on the front of the stimulation unit for one second to switch it on.
  3. Press the on/off button on the left side of the remote control for one second to switch it on. It will automatically connect to the innoSTEP-WL.
  4. The walking figure indicates walking mode, the seated figure indicates training mode.
  5. Use the yellow mode button in the middle of the remote control to switch between walking and training mode.
  6. If you have switched to training mode, this is automatically paused. Press the start/pause button to start training.
  7. Use the plus and minus buttons to adjust the intensity of the stimulation until you feel the foot lift off the floor. The stimulation should not be felt as painful. If you keep the button pressed, the intensity changes in increments of ten.
  8. To interrupt the training and end the stimulation directly, press the mode button again.

Extending the cuff

The innoSTEP-WL foot-operated lifting system is battery-operated and has a running time of approx. 10 hours in walking mode.

More info

The width of the cuff can be easily adjusted using the Velcro fastener; if the cuff is too tight, it can be widened using an extension piece. Please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Velcro fastener and guide the magnetic fastener all the way out to remove it. To do this, press down the safety tab at the end of the Velcro strip.
  2. The extension is placed with the two square surfaces on the Velcro fastener of the cuff to create a continuous Velcro surface.
  3. Thread the magnetic clasp back on, making sure that the smooth side is facing upwards.
  4. Join the Velcro surfaces at the end of the extension to close it.
