Certified FFP2 mask made in Germany by PPE Germany

The FFP2 mask “Made in Germany” offers both self-protection and external protection in accordance with the EN 149:2001 + A1:2009 and DIN EN 149:2009 standards and is therefore class III personal protective equipment.

Masks without an exhalation valve filter both the inhaled air and the exhaled air and therefore offer both self-protection and protection from others. Filtering half masks (filtering face piece, FFP) are designed to protect the wearer from particles, droplets and solid or liquid aerosols.

The German respirator consists of a four-layer mask body made of non-woven fleece layers, which are joined by ultrasonic welding. It protects against infectious aerosols (including viruses), fine dust and particles. The layer facing the face is made of a particularly skin-friendly material that is light, flexible and breathable. The second layer is made of hot air cotton, which absorbs the water vapor produced during the exhalation process. The third layer consists of meltblown filter fleece and acts as the main filtration layer of the respirator. The outer layer prevents liquid droplets from penetrating and thus protects the filter fleece.

The FFP2 mask manufactured in Germany has no valve and is intended for single use. The single use refers to a maximum total duration of use of 8 hours during a work shift. If handled correctly, the FFP2 mask can be used several times by one person. The ergonomic 3D fit with adjustable nose clip and wrapped ear loops offers high wearing comfort and easy handling in everyday life.

An FFP2 mask achieves a filtering effect of ≥ 94 percent of airborne particles up to a size of 0.6 μm. FFP2 masks already meet the medical standard for handling infected patients.

During the corona pandemic (SARS-CoV-2), the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the German government recommend that not only medical staff wear an FFP2 mask, but also high-risk patients and private individuals

Statement from the manufacturer on the production of FFP2 masks and certification by the notified body 2163

PPE Germany GmbH produces FFP2 masks on 8 fully automated lines in Berlin. Approx. 2-3 million masks leave the factory every week. PPE Germany produces certified masks, which are certified and monitored by the testing laboratory 2163 as part of module C2 and are subject to German market surveillance. Unlike many Chinese manufacturers, German manufacturers do not evade market surveillance.

Our customers are delighted with the quality of PPE Germany products. The masks are lightweight and have low breathing resistance with excellent filtering properties. The materials come from Meltblown’s own production facilities in Europe. PPE Germany has its own test laboratory where products are tested daily for compliance with the EN 149 standard. This means that production errors are detected at an early stage and only reach the market in very rare cases. Our daily quality assurance is essentially based on the Palas test procedure, which is predominant in Germany. You can find more information about the test device here.

The Palas test devices are widely used in material and mask testing, particularly in Central Europe, and meet the very highest standards. The TÜV has validated the measurement results of the Palas devices. Please read the corresponding article here.

In a ZDF television report, the legality of the 2163 test center certificate was called into question. In particular, the ZDF cited the tests carried out by Dekra. Customers are now asking us questions about this. We respond to these below:

PPE Germany GmbH has not yet been affected by these rumors. The inspection body 2163 has stated its position in the ZDF television report and does not believe there are any irregularities.

PPE Germany, as a producer of quality masks made in Germany, is of the opinion that this report is about internal disputes between test centers that are being played out in the media. ZDF has already had to apologize to a mask importer in the past because the reports were not absolutely correct. Please read here.

PPE Germany’s products are certified for sale in the EU and meet European quality requirements in every respect. Nevertheless, PPE Germany has commissioned the BSI (British Standardization Institute, test body 2797) to independently assess the FFP2 mask products in addition to its own daily tests to ensure quality. The results of test center 2797 show that PPE Germany’s products are beyond reproach. The results of this test can be read here.

We do not otherwise participate in speculation and rumors on the Internet and in the media.
