innoSTEP-WL – wireless foot lifting system with remote control

The wireless foot drop system innoSTEP-WL is an easy-to-use device for the immediate improvement of the gait pattern in cases of foot drop weakness. Thanks to functional electrical stimulation, electrical impulses are sent to the nerves via electrodes on the skin, which ultimately leads to contraction of the corresponding muscles.

How the innoSTEP WL foot lifter system works

The innovative, wireless foot drop system innoSTEP-WL enables direct compensation of foot drop weakness and an improvement in gait. Electrodes on the skin transmit electrical impulses to the fibular/peroneal nerve, the foot lifter muscle and other muscles involved in lifting the foot. Advanced sensor technology and intelligent algorithms precisely control the timing and duration of the electrical stimulation, so that the foot is lifted at the right moment when walking, enabling a stable, natural and safe gait. Settings can be made conveniently via a Bluetooth remote control with illuminated display. The repeatedly transmitted impulses are perceived and processed by the nerve structures in the brain and spinal cord – this can lead to neuronal rewiring and a permanently improved gait pattern.

How do I get the wireless foot lifter system innoSTEP-WL?

The innoSTEP-WL is a CE-marked medical device and complies with the requirements of the GKV list of aids for PG09 electrical stimulation. It can be prescribed directly by the attending physician. After approval by the health insurance companies, patients are instructed in its use by a trained medical device consultant. The foot lifter system is of course also available to purchase.

Wie erhalte ich mein innoSTEP-WL Fußhebersystem?

Das innoSTEP-WL ist ein Hilfsmittel zur funktionellen Elektrostimulation bei Fußheberschwäche, das ärztlich verordnet und von den gesetzlichen Krankenkassen übernommen werden kann. Das erforderliche Rezept kann Ihnen Ihr behandelnder Haus- oder Facharzt ausstellen. Bei immer mehr Ärzten besteht die Möglichkeit, dass Sie Ihr Rezept per Telefon oder E-Mail anfordern können, ohne zwangsläufig in der Praxis vorstellig zu werden. Sprechen Sie mit Ihrem Arzt. Die Versorgung erfolgt dann – abhängig vom Versicherungsstatus des Patienten – auf zwei unterschiedlichen Wegen:

Gesetzlich Versicherte
  1. Der Kunde lässt sich ein Rezept über das innoSTEP-WL ausstellen und sendet dieses an HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK GmbH & Co. KG (Europaplatz 2, 35619 Braunfels).
  2. HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK erstellt einen Kostenvoranschlag für eine vierwöchige Erprobung und leitet diesen an die zuständige Krankenkasse weiter.
  3. Nach der Genehmigung seitens der Krankenkasse erhält der Versicherte die elektrische Manschette innoSTEP-WL und wird in die Handhabung eingewiesen. Dabei wird eine umfassende Patientendokumentation entsprechend der GKV-Richtlinien erstellt, inklusive eines Videos des Gangbildes mit und ohne Hilfsmittel.
  4. Möchte der Versicherte nach Ablauf der vier Wochen das Gerät weiter nutzen, sendet er eine Folgeverordnung vom behandelnden Arzt an HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK.
  5. HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK stellt einen Kostenvoranschlag zur Dauergenehmigung an die jeweilige Krankenkasse.
  1. Der Kunde lässt sich ein Rezept über das innoSTEP-WL ausstellen und bestellt das Gerät bei HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK.
  2. HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK erstellt einen Kostenvoranschlag oder eine Rechnung über den Erwerb des Fußhebersystems (bei Bedarf auch über eine Erprobungsphase von 4 Wochen) die der Versicherte seiner privaten Krankenkasse vorlegt.
  3. Nach Rechnungsbegleichung erhält der Versicherte die elektrische Manschette innoSTEP-WL und wird in die Handhabung eingewiesen. Dabei wird eine umfassende Patientendokumentation inklusive eines Videos des Gangbildes mit und ohne Hilfsmittel erstellt.
  4. Im Falle einer Erprobung sendet HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK nach Ablauf der 4 Wochen einen Kostenvoranschlag zur vollständigen Versorgung an den Kunden.

How do I get my innoSTEP-WL foot drop system?

The innoSTEP-WL is an aid for functional electrical stimulation for weak foot dorsiflexion, which can be prescribed by a doctor and covered by statutory health insurance. The necessary prescription can be issued by your family doctor or specialist. More and more doctors are giving you the option of requesting your prescription by phone or e-mail without having to visit the practice. Talk to your doctor. Depending on the patient’s insurance status, treatment is then provided in two different ways:

Legally insured persons
  1. The customer has a prescription issued via the innoSTEP-WL and sends it to HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK GmbH & Co. KG (Europaplatz 2, 35619 Braunfels).
  2. HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK prepares a cost estimate for a four-week trial and forwards it to the responsible health insurance company.
  3. After approval by the health insurance company, the insured person receives the innoSTEP-WL electrical cuff and is instructed in how to use it. Comprehensive patient documentation is created in accordance with the GKV guidelines, including a video of the gait pattern with and without the aid.
  4. If the insured person wishes to continue using the device after the four weeks have elapsed, they must send a follow-up prescription from their doctor to HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK.
  5. HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK submits a cost estimate to the respective health insurance company for permanent approval.
  1. The customer obtains a prescription for the innoSTEP-WL and orders the device from HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK.
  2. HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK prepares a cost estimate or an invoice for the purchase of the foot drop system (if required, also for a trial period of 4 weeks), which the insured person submits to his private health insurance company.
  3. Once the invoice has been settled, the insured person receives the innoSTEP-WL electrical cuff and is instructed in how to use it. Comprehensive patient documentation is created, including a video of the gait pattern with and without the aid.
  4. In the event of a trial, HELLER MEDIZINTECHNIK shall send the customer a cost estimate for the complete supply after the 4 weeks have elapsed.
